OPPORTUNITIES

Rolling Deadlines:

  • For independent environmental journalists and filmmakers worldwide, The Pulitzer Center hones in on crisis reporting, under-reported stories and global issues.

  • The Rory Peck Trust assists with financial aid for freelance journalists and their families in times of crisis. In association with Google News Initiative, the grant offers assistance to freelancers whose livelihoods have been put at risk as a result of their craft.

  • September 29: International resident fellowship at the Dorothy Lewis B. Cullman Center for scholars and writers. Writers, journalists and visual artists, apply here!

  • October 1: Camargo Fellowship is calling for applicants who are engaged in groundbreaking research, experimentation, and interdisciplinary approaches in the Arts and Humanities.

  • October 5: Calling all Sub-Saharan African journalists, the new Financial Times Fellowship is open to applications! Featuring one on one mentoring, reporting grants and more. Apply here!

  • October 6: Check out this competitive artist residency for established filmmakers whose documentary projects explore and expand thoughtful consideration of Jewish history, life, culture, and identity. Find out more here!

  • October 9: Journalists covering the American West can apply for the Bill Lane Center offers Western Media Fellowship here.

  • October 13: Arab artists and writers under the age of 35, the Culture Resource is awarding Production grants for your first creative project! Read the specifics here.

  • October 17: Want to start early planning for your studies next year? The Kamal Adham Fellowship is partially covering tuition costs, particularly for Egyptian grads, who want to pursue a Masters in Television and Digital Journalism at the American University in Cairo. Is that you? Apply!

  • October 22: Hillman Grand Rising Voices program. The initiative aims to discover, invest in, and share stories created by BIPOC filmmakers & storytellers around the power and meaning of work. Apply here!

  • October 24: Mountain Workshops is currently taking applications for their photojournalism, video storytelling and picture editing workshops.

  • October 27: Frameline competition fund offers grants of up to $5,000, to emerging and established filmmakers, for the completion of films that represent and reflect LGBTQ+ life in all its complexity and richness. Apply here.

  • October 31: The Roy W. Dean Grant is now accepting applications for fiction and documentaries. If you have a unique film project that contributes to society, apply here.

  • December 15: Black List x WIF Episodic Lab program is calling for applicants. Promising non-professional television writers have the opportunity to be selected, find out more here.

  • January 1: The MacDowell Fellowship awards based artistic excellence and encourages artists from all backgrounds and countries to apply. From architecture to visual arts. Find out more here!

FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS

  • September 20: International Film Festival Rotterdam applications are now open! Feature film makers, here’s your chance. Find out more about the Netherlands festival here.

  • September 25: The 2024 applications for the Sundance Film Festival 2024 are officially open, submit your feature film at the world’s of the most prestigious cinematic stages.

  • September 29: The Festival Premiers plans d'Angers is now accepting applications for its 36th edition, welcoming submissions from Europe for first and second feature films, initial short films, animated works, and student productions created in 2022 or 2023.

  • September 30: Last chance for filmmakers with ready-to-go features, animations and experimental films. The Pragueshorts Film Festival closes at the end of this month.

  • September 30: Experimental filmmakers, The Ann Arbor Film Festival is open to submissions. Short and feature filmmakers, applications are now open. Win up to $3,000 in awards.

  • September 30: Place your documentary, short film or first film on an international stage by submitting your work to the MiradasDoc Film Festival's prestigious competition.

  • October 7: The annual SIMA Awards celebrate social impact storytellers that connect activism, compassion and social transformation through their lens. Competition categories include Feature and Short Docs, Impact Videos, Interactive + XR and AI. What are you waiting for? Apply here.
