Rolling Deadlines:

  • For independent environmental journalists and filmmakers worldwide, The Pulitzer Center hones in on crisis reporting, under-reported stories and global issues.

  • The Rory Peck Trust assists with financial aid for freelance journalists and their families in times of crisis. In association with Google News Initiative, the grant offers assistance to freelancers whose livelihoods have been put at risk as a result of their craft.

  • Get funding and support to complete your single nonfiction program for broadcast on public television—whether you’re an emerging filmmaker or a veteran producer. Apply to ITVS if you are a citizen or legal resident of the U.S. or its external territories age 18 or older.

  • Calling all Pacific media organizations and journalists… This is the funding and technical support you have been waiting for! The Pacific Media Assistance Scheme is now accepting applicants so get to it.


Upcoming Deadlines:
  • July 24: The Sundance Institute Sandbox Fund is calling for documentary filmmakers who are keen to explore the intrinsic link between science and culture. Apply ASAP and be awarded up to a $50,000 grant!
  • July 27: Need financial support for your film? The Visions Sud Est Fund is open to support full length filmmakers for production or post-production support.
  • July 31: Bronx Documentary Center’s Fellowship program is currently open for applications, inviting proposals from filmmakers who will be engaged in Bronx communities and committed to creating in-depth documentaries based on the lives of community members and/or the issues affecting them.

  • July 31: The AXS Film Fund is committed to helping creators of color with disabilities ensure their voices are heard. Documentary filmmakers and nonfiction creators are encouraged to apply.
  • August 1: WorkingFilms 2023 Docs in Action's “Call for Media to Advance Worker Rights.” Apply for up to $30,000 in funding for short documentary films.

  • August 11: Get funding and support to complete your single nonfiction program for broadcast on public television—whether you’re an emerging filmmaker or a veteran producer. Apply to ITVS if you are a citizen or legal resident of the U.S. or its external territories age 18 or older.
  • August 14: The Video Consortium Mexico is offering a $30,000 Mexican Pesos for the production of short documentary. Find out more here!
  • August 15: Calling all Global South filmmakers, The Alter-CinĂ© Foundation grant is open for submission! With over 15000 Canadian dollars to assist in the production of their documentary project, creators living in Africa, Asia or Latin America should apply ASAP!
  • August 16: Funding and support is available for Australian documentary filmmakers creating impactful and socially on point documentaries. This could be the funding that puts your project on the map, get your application in now.

  • September 1: Do you have a compelling climate story? The second annual Bloomberg Green Docs competition is now open to all eligible filmmakers who would like to compete to win a $25,000 grand prize for a short climate documentary.

  • September 4: The annual Berlinale Talents is open for entries! A festival development programme of the Berlin International Film Festival for the world’s top emerging filmmakers and creators.
  • September 14: The Radcliffe Fellowship Program awards 50 fellowships each academic year. Applicants may apply as individuals or in a group of two to three people working on the same project. Radcliffe fellows are exceptional scientists, writers, scholars, public intellectuals, and artists whose work is making a difference in their professional fields and in the larger world.

  • October 17: Want to start early planning for your studies next year? The Kamal Adham Fellowship is partially covering tuition costs, particularly for Egyptian grads, who want to pursue a Masters in Television and Digital Journalism at the American University in Cairo. Is that you? Apply!

  • October 24: Mountain Workshops is currently taking applications for their photojournalism, video storytelling and picture editing workshops.
