Whitney is a visual storyteller and documentary filmmaker with extensive experience in photography, filmmaking, producing, and storytelling. She focuses on cultural documentation of social issues worldwide, collaborating with NGOs and freelance clients.

About

Whitney is a documentary filmmaker based in San Francisco, CA. She holds an MFA from Stanford University in Documentary Film and a Bachelor's in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute, where she received the John Collier Humanitarian Award. Her 2018 film "One Thing in Nothing" received the Presidents Award at Full Frame Documentary Festival, won Best Documentary Short at Deep Focus Film Festival, and was published on the Atlantic. Her films have been screened at numerous festivals, including Full Frame, Cinequest, DocLands, Calgary International Film Festival, SF Indie Fest, SFDOCFest, Global Voices USNC-UN Women SF Film Festival, and the United Nations and Visions du Réel works-in-progress pitch. Whitney presented at the 2022 Cape Elizabeth TedEx. Whitney's personal photography and films explore themes of family, identity, environmental and social issues, such as immigration and poverty, with a particular focus on the role and perspective of women and girls.
