About

Oriana van Praag is a journalist and photographer from Caracas, Venezuela. She graduated from Brown University with a B.A. in Development Studies and was most recently a senior associate at the Americas Division of Human Rights Watch. Previously, she was a research consultant at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars and an environmental justice intern at the Colombian organization Dejusticia. She contributed to Cuba and Venezuela coverage at Human Rights Watch and has published two reports on the Venezuelan refugee crisis with the Wilson Center, as well as articles in publications such as Americas Quarterly, The College Hill Independent, and Brown Political Review. She speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
