About

Nico Carbonaro began his career directing music videos and producing independent films before discovering documentary and never looking back. For the past decade, Nico has worked as a multidisciplinary storyteller, extending the reach of the films he directs through podcasts and photo essays, interactive editorials, museum exhibitions and action campaigns. Between 2016 and 2019, Nico founded a documentary discipline at Google where he served as showrunner and director, developing and creating interactive documentary series and branded content. The team he ran at Google included award winning filmmakers, designers, photographers, and journalists collaborating with non-profit organizations including the Equal Justice Initiative, National Parks Foundation, and GLAAD. 'Lynching in America', an interactive oral history project about the legacy of racially motivated lynchings and their connection to modern day capital punishment, was featured in a three-month exhibit at the Brookyln Museum and lives in the permanent collection of The Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama.
