Joris Debeij is a director and writer, born in Raamsdonksveer and based on the United States West Coast. Known for his ability to craft relatable human stories that evoke a smile, a tear, or a bit of both, Joris has made a name for himself in both commercials and films. His work has earned awards at Cannes Lions and has been showcased at festivals such as Sundance, SXSW, Sheffield Doc, and Tribeca. Joris developed and produced the feature documentary State of Silence, now available on Netflix. His most recent film, Goodshot, is currently in post-production and slated for release in 2025. He began his career with a strong foundation in documentary filmmaking, with short films like The Bull Rider and Perfectly Normal, both of which earned Vimeo Staff Picks and brought his talents into the spotlight. This recognition led him to direct commercials for major brands such as Apple, JetBlue, and Nike, as well as episodes for the Apple TV+ series Dear…. Joris is represented for commercials by Reverie Content and is managed by Black Bear Pictures for his film and television work. Joris brings complex issues to life with a calm, authentic lens, crafting deeply personal stories that speak for themselves.
