Erin Brethauer is an Emmy-Award-winning documentary filmmaker and photographer based in the Bay Area and Asheville, NC. Her work as a video columnist and filmmaker at the San Francisco Chronicle is recognized by Pictures of the Year International. Since becoming an independent filmmaker in 2016, her work has been published by The New Yorker, National Geographic, The New York Times, The Guardian and Pop Up Magazine. Last Men Standing, her first feature-length film, about long-term HIV survivors in San Francisco, screened at LGBTQ+ film festivals around the world. Her current feature, Nothing Gold Can Stay, co-directed with her husband, Tim Hussin, is in post-production.

The Video Consortium is a global nonprofit media organization that supports the world’s nonfiction filmmakers and video journalists to tell bold stories that change the world.
