About

Amanda Rossmann is a midwest visual journalist that specializes in photography, videography and podcasting. She is available for freelancing or contracting opportunities. Growing up in a small rural town of Ohio, she became infatuated with storytelling and become the editor of her high school's newspaper. She majored in journalism/communications at Northern Kentucky University and minored in photography. A few months after graduating from NKU with a bachelor's degree, she started working full-time as a visual journalist for her hometown paper, The Enquirer, in Cincinnati. During her time with the organization, she wore many hats. She's told stories through photography, videography and beginning in 2016 she learned how to tell them audibly through the world of podcasting. In 2016, Rossmann launched Accused, a true crime podcast, with investigative reporter Amber Hunt. The fourth season of Accused was recently published, and the series has accumulated more than 50 million downloads. The Accused podcast has been praised as "thorough" and "gripping" by Rolling Stone magazine, which featured the show on a recent list touting the 25 best true-crime podcasts of all time. Rossmann is also the producer on the podcasts Great American Dream, a twelve-episode serial, that tells the story of a Reds baseball minor leaguer in his journey to Major League Baseball and Aftermath, a podcast about gun violence survivors. Rossmann believes in the power of collaboration to bring out the best and most meaningful content. In 2017, she helped edit and oversee the Seven Days of Heroin project that won a local reporting Pulitzer in 2018. It was a true newsroom effort that couldn’t have been possible without concise direction and a clear vision. She is also a two-time regional Emmy winner. Rossmann has been involved in many newsroom collaborations and storytelling projects. In December, 2022, after 16 years with The Enquirer, Rossmann left her hometown newspaper to pursue freelancing full-time.
