About Us:
The Video Consortium (VC) is a global media organization dedicated to supporting and connecting today’s documentary filmmakers and visual journalists. We empower storytellers who are pushing to catalyze social change through their work. We are seeking a proactive, results-driven, and curious Development Coordinator to join our dynamic and fully remote team. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in building and sustaining the future of VC by growing relationships with funders, sponsors, and individual donors in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

As the Development Coordinator, you will work closely with the Executive Director (ED) to research and develop strategies to support VC’s financial growth and community impact. Your work will directly support the growth of VC’s funding streams and the creative community we serve. The ideal candidate will be excited about building new relationships, organizing impactful events, and playing an integral part in furthering VC’s mission.

What You’ll Do:

Funder & Donor Outreach + Relationship Management

  • Support our Executive Director (ED) in her management of relationships with existing and potential funders, major donors, and VC-wide sponsors.

  • Take initiative in researching new funding opportunities, while also identifying partners who share VC’s mission and values.

  • Develop and manage dates and strategies for potential sponsors, foundations, and individual donors, always keeping VC’s goals in mind.

Event Coordination

  • Help coordinate events focused on raising funds and engaging with our community. This includes donor activations, sponsor-led events and creative community gatherings.

  • Work closely with VC staff to ensure these events run smoothly and help us build stronger connections with both our partners and creative community.

Research & Strategy Development

  • Research funding trends, opportunities, and partnerships to keep VC’s approach fresh and competitive.

  • Regularly update and refine fundraising strategies in collaboration with the ED and key stakeholders.

Grant Writing & Proposal Development

  • Write compelling Letters of Intent (LOIs), grant proposals, and reports for funders, ensuring that each one aligns with our strategic priorities and meets the funders’ needs.

  • Keep relationships strong with funders by following up, making sure we meet our deliverables, and keeping them in the loop about the impact of their support.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a development or fundraising role, ideally within the nonprofit sector.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; must be able to craft persuasive and compelling proposals and reports.

  • Previous experience with nonprofit financials and budgeting; must have a strong understanding of nonprofit financial structures and how they relate to fundraising.

  • Experience organizing events; prior success in organizing community or fundraising events from start to finish.

  • Proven track record of successfully writing LOIs and evolving relationships with funders to secure sustained support.

  • A people-first, community-building approach to fundraising that reflects VC’s commitment to creating an inclusive, collaborative environment.

  • Proactive attitude and a strong sense of initiative; the ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, excited by challenges, and driven to create new opportunities.

  • A passion for social change and a deep commitment to supporting the work of documentary filmmakers and visual journalists who are pushing boundaries and addressing critical social issues.

Role Specifics:

  • Reports to: Executive Director

  • Full-time (W2) position

  • Salary: $55,000 - $58,000 based on experience

  • Location: Fully remote

  • Benefits: Healthcare and home office stipends, generous PTO and holiday schedules.
