About

After working as a deckhand on boats in New Zealand and Alaska, Molly Stark-Ragsdale launched into film freelancing. Jumping between Los Angeles and the Pacific Northwest, she worked as a Props Assistant on Kelly Reichardt’s First Cow, a Producer’s Assistant on the TV shows Shrill and Chad, and a Director’s Assistant on Peter Sollet’s Metal Lords. Most recently, she assisted Director Ruben Fleischer in post-production for Uncharted and in script development for his production company, The District. Her dance-for-camera piece, Alula, premiered at the Kinetoscope International Screendance Festival, and Jacksonville Dance Film Festival. Her first narrative short, Le Pigeon, was an official selection at the Oregon Short Film Festival and the Montana Film Festival. She directed the short documentary, Like A Girl, which went on to iF3, Women’s Adventure Film Tour, and No Man’s Land Film Festival. Stark-Ragsdale attended Macalester College, receiving degrees in Media and Cultural Studies, and International Studies. She grew up in the mountains of Montana broken by years living in Spain, Mozambique, and Brazil. Recently relocated to New York City, she spends her time writing, raising money for her next film, and battling the waves off Long Island as a novice surfer.
