About

Alison spent a decade as a development executive at Jigsaw Productions and The Documentary Group developing projects for platforms including HBO, Netflix, Showtime, CNN, Nat Geo, AMC, ESPN, Discovery, Freeform, and Hulu. Highlights include collaborating with Samin Nosrat to adapt her bestselling book "Salt Fat Acid Heat" into a Netflix series, and working with Gizmodo journalist Jennings Brown to adapt his podcast "The Gateway: Teal Swan" into what became "The Deep End" on Freeform and Hulu. In 2022, Alison turned to writing and producing full time. As an independent producer, she has collaborated with leading production companies including Story Syndicate, Part2 Pictures, The Documentary Group, and Film 45. Most recently, she was a Writer, Producer, and EP on the narrative nonfiction podcast "Svetlana! Svetlana!" for iHeartRadio, which reached listeners in 197 countries and all 7 continents (yes, even Antarctica!), was named a Best Podcast of 2023 by Vulture and featured in The Hollywood Reporter, and climbed to #1 on the Apple Podcast documentary charts. Alison is currently consulting for a variety of production companies and filmmakers while producing her own slate of projects — including a magical realist documentary about people who live monochromatic lives. Her story interests include complicated women, exuberant history, and inventive films that lean into genre and break rules. Alison is a casual cyclist, a competent ceramicist, a terrible baker, and a fantastic cook. She lives in Brooklyn with her comedian husband and their cat Adelaide.
