  • #Grant The Pulitzer Center invites filmmakers and journalists from around the globe to apply for its International Reporting Grants targeted at in-depth, high-impact reporting. 🌎
  • #Impact Impact Coordinator course in South Africa: Sunshine Cinema and the University of Cape Town have partnered to deliver an online course on impact coordinating for filmmakers. ⬅️ Apply.


Upcoming Deadlines:

  • December 20: #Festival #UK Submit to screen at Videoclub’s Night Watch UK film festival. International LGBTQIA filmmakers and artists can submit their films to enter. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
  • December 31: #Pitch #Feature #Festival 🌤️ The Big Sky Pitch program includes one-on-one pitch training to help you refine your pitch and connect with industry leaders. Selected projects will receive an All-Access pass to Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and DocShop. Only documentary feature-length works-in-progress are eligible to apply.

  • December 31: #Festival #Students Isiphethu International Student Film Festival, in South Africa, invites student filmmakers to submit their student films. This festival is open to filmmakers “currently enrolled at any tertiary institution whose film celebrates innovation, wild imagination, courage, conviction and bravery to tell stories in new, exciting and innovative ways.” Filmmakers can win monetary awards and prizes too 👩‍🎓 📹
  • January 3: #Fellowship BAVC Media members who are working on their first or second documentary features can apply for the 2023 MediaMaker Fellowship, which provides one year of funding, training and workshops. 🎬
  • January 3: #Internship The Wall Street Journal is looking for graduates and students of journalism to immerse themselves in these 10-week internship programs in London, Paris and Brussels. 📰
  • January 4: #Fellowship The SJN LEDE Fellowship is back, this time focused on increasing access to solutions journalism across audiences and communities. Previous LEDE fellows have included independent journalists, editors, college and high school educators, engineers, designers and community organizers. ✊🏾
  • January 6: #Grant EJN is running its second round of travel grants for journalists interested in attending and reporting on global conferences and summits related to biodiversity issues in 2023. ✈️ 🍃
  • January 13: #Funding Jewish Story Partners is now accepting applications! 📃 For U.S. citizens in need of funding for a feature-length documentary film.
  • January 13: #Fellowship Are you producing a documentary that highlights stories of moral and ethical urgency? ⚖️ The Diane Weyermann Fellowship at Points North is offering documentary filmmakers $100,000 in unrestricted grants, mentorship, a festival retreat, and ongoing professional development. 🫶
  • January 16: #Funding #Wales Attention, Welsch documentarians! The 2022 Pat Llewellyn Bursary Fund will give four successful applicants £10,000 each to develop their TV proposal. 📺
  • January 20#Grant #Climate Belize journalists, now’s your time! EJN is offering up to 10 reporting grants to support the production of stories surrounding the protection, conservation and management of reef health and the advancement of a sustainable Blue Economy Agenda. 🪸
  • January 26: #Incubator #Workshop #Production Dok.incubator offers an intensive, international, 8 month workshop where they offer editing, distribution and market strategy assistance to filmmakers with rough cut documentaries.   • February 1: #Journalism #Awards Entries for NASW Science in Society Journalism Awards are open now. Nominations are not limited to NASW members — all media professionals and journalists are encouraged to submit entries! 🧫 🗐
  • February 9: #Awards #Submissions One World Media Awards are open for entries from 5 Jan 2023. 🏆 Prepare your application now! Entries should focus on stories related to low- and middle-income countries across the global south. This includes countries across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia or the Post-Soviet States. 🌍
  • February 13: #Finance #Workshop Women, NB and GN doc filmmakers, get your documents in order. WIF’s Financing Intensives are open to applicants. 📝
  • March 1: #Showcase Kickstarter's Long Story Short! Kickstarter is inviting emerging and established filmmakers, film students, and other enthusiastic cinephiles to start thinking now about what they want to launch into the world for the Long Story Short showcase, Kickstarter’s annual celebration of short films. Winners will join an amazing cohort of filmmakers. 🦵🏼 🏁
