About

PATRICE D. BOWMAN is the founder of BOWMAN PICTURES. She is an award-winning filmmaker and a colorist. She graduated with a B.A. in Film Studies from Yale University in 2015 and currently lives in New York City. Her mission is to work on films that inspire, entertain, and educate. Through her company, she produces her own films and colors the works of other creatives. As a filmmaker, she focuses on the mental and spiritual lives of women of color -- particularly, of Black women. Her first short film, “Lean on Him,” won the Howard R. Lamar Prize Film & Video at Yale University.  Her following short film, the award-winning “Saturday Grace,” was selected to screen at the Academy Award-qualifying Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series. Her latest short film, the award-winning “Under the Sun After the Wind,” is currently on the festival circuit and has won the 2022 Pano Microgrant. She's now excited to work on her first feature-length film: "Father's Shadow." As a colorist, she has strong knowledge of the offline-online workflow, color correction and grading, and final deliverables. She has color graded for a variety of talented filmmakers (who have screened at the Tribeca Festival and on PBS Reel South) and for many well-known brands, like Facebook and Nike. She is available to work remotely, in-house, and on-site. Dedicated to making the art of color more accessible, she also conducts color grading workshops at various universities and festivals both virtually and in-person.
