About

Natasha Florentino is a documentary filmmaker, director, and cinematographer of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent. Her work captures the strength and resiliency of communities that have overcome enormous odds. She films in a variety of styles ranging from cinéma vérité to classic sit-down interviews capturing the movement and grace of her characters. She can produce a wide variety of content ranging from micro-documentaries and promotional marketing videos to in-depth long-form documentaries. Larkin Street Youth Services, a San Francisco based non-profit, recently commissioned her to direct and film a 25-minute documentary, Paving A New Way, about three formerly homeless youth. In 2017, she directed and filmed Abundant Land: Soil, Seeds and Sovereignty, a feature-length documentary about a Hawaiian community challenging the biotech industry’s use of their island to test pesticides. In 2008 she was the co-director and director of photography for Rezoning Harlem, a documentary about community opposition to New York City’s rezoning of 125th Street. Natasha holds an MFA from Hunter College (CUNY), where she lectured in Media Studies.
