Leslie Von Pless is the Director, Video and Photography for Environmental Defense Fund, where she shoots, edits, and produces films, video and photography about climate change impacts and solutions. Previously, she was the Multimedia Producer for Lambda Legal and the Multimedia Manager for the Women's Media Center. Leslie's videos have been featured in The Los Angeles Times, Fast Company, The Washington Post, Buzzfeed, Upworthy, People Magazine, Mic, Refinery 29, and more. Her work has screened at numerous film festivals and has received recognitions, such as: Telly Awards, Vimeo Staff Pick, Grand Jury Award for Documentary Short at Outfest, Best Short Documentary at Ocean Beach Film Festival, Keynote Film at Glimmerglass Film Days, First Place in WNET Short Film Contest, and others. Leslie is passionate about nature and the outdoors, and her favorite place on the planet to be is underwater.

Mangroves are the passport to our survival as a species. Communities depend on a thriving mangrove ecosystems for food and livelihoods, and a square mile of healthy mangrove forest can sequester carbon 10 times faster than the same area of mature tropical forests. But mangrove forests can also emit greenhouse gases when disturbed or degraded. In Ecuador, fishing communities and scientists work together to restore these forests and understand the climate benefits they provide to the world.
