Joaquim Salles is a multimedia journalist based in New York City. He previously worked at BBC News in Washington, DC, where he produced, shot and edited breaking news and feature videos. Before that, he worked on various documentary projects in his native Brazil as a researcher, writer and director. He wrote and directed episodes of Quebrando o Tabu (Breaking the Taboo), an award-winning topical documentary series for cable, and wrote the feature documentary Encarcerados (Jailed) about mass incarceration in Brazil. Joaquim is a graduate of Brown University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
