About

Jess DiPierro Obert is a visual journalist and filmmaker, based between Haiti and New York. She is also a co-founder of storytelling studio Strange Luck. She has interned at the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting in Washington, DC, and is a mentor for Girls Voices. Her work focuses on global issues related to women, mental health, and identity. In 2020, she received a ‘Still I Rise’ Visual Arts Grants to work on a film about women peace builders in conflict zones within Port Au Prince, Haiti. Jess’ work has been exhibited at Prix Bayeux Calvados-Normandie (France, 2022) and has received a Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) Murrow award (Univision, 2022). She has been published in numerous publications including Buzzfeed News, The Guardian, The Economist’s 1843 Magazine, Reuters, Al Jazeera English, Univision, The New York Times, Bloomberg, The New Humanitarian, and Rest of World.
