About

Émilie is an emergent filmmaker and founder of Kannon Films based in both Ottawa, Canada and Quito, Ecuador. She has spent years producing, filming and directing short documentary content for organizations worldwide, such as The Guardian, New York Post, Univision, Newsweek, Ozy and more. Her projects have received support from Hot Docs Cross Current Documentary Funds (Marie-Soleil, 2019), the Canadian Council for the Arts (documentary Uproot, 2019) and the Ontario Arts Council (Milieu du Monde, 2020). She is currently directing and producing the first and second seasons of a youth animated documentary series about francophone Métis in Ontario called “Les Métis: Notre Culture, Nos Histoires!” (TFO & CMF). Her short documentary Quimsacocha played in festivals around the world including Amdocs 2019 in California, One Word Film Festival 2019 in Ottawa, Vancouver Latin American Film Festival and the Ecuadorian film festival Línea Imaginaria in Madrid. Émilie received the 2018 Canadian Women Artists’ Award from NYSCA and was a beneficiary of the Banff Diversity of Voices Initiative 2018 and 2019. In 2019, she was a recipient of the Youth Media Alliance Thérèse-Pinho Scholarship. Whether it’s a documentary or fiction series, Emilie is passionate about exploring new forms of visual storytelling, loves working with diverse artists, and has a desire to tell stores that highlight cultural diversity and environmental themes.
