About

Anna Andersen, an award-winning documentary filmmaker and co-founder of NINA FILMS, is focused on the dynamism of the female identity and unexplored worlds. Anna specializes in stories around the "unexpected" which can take form in complex mother/daughter relationships or lesbian separatists communities in the deep south. Anna is dedicated to making the documentary space more accessible and diverse. She is a proud member of the documentary group, Video Consortium, where over the last two years she’s helped establish and grow a global mentorship program sponsored by Sony. She is also a proud member of The Explorers Club. Her directing work has been showcased at prestigious festivals like Tribeca, DOC NYC, New Orleans Film Festival and Florida Film Festival. Her work has gone on to received numerous awards, including Grand Jury and Audience Awards at both the Oscar Qualifying New Orleans FF and the Florida FF. Her work has been commissioned by PBS and featured in Forbes. Anna continues to shape the future of documentary filmmaking with her innovative approach, championing the unexpected.
