About

Andrés the son of Colombian immigrants was born in Miami, FL and raised between there and Colombia. With a keen eye and love of observation he first picked up a photographic camera in his late teens and began documenting people in his hometown. Street photography opened his eyes to the play between light and shadow. After falling in love with the medium, he felt that there was more to tell and pursued and education in Film Production. He received a BFA from the University of Central Florida in Film Production. Since then he has worked in various non-fiction documentary projects as well as commercial projects. In addition to this he worked as an educator for a number of years leading trips around the globe for National Geographic Student Expeditions.

The Video Consortium is a global nonprofit media organization that supports the world’s nonfiction filmmakers and video journalists to tell bold stories that change the world.
