Hatibu Madudu

Hatibu Madudu is a filmmaker (Producer/Director), for his director debut, he wrote & directed a short film “Sukari” aims to trigger the conversation on the first three Sustainable Development goals through addressing youth economic hardship and the choices they opt to make. Sukari had its world premiere at the 21st Zanzibar International Film Festival in 2018 and was nominated to several International Festivals Including The 26th Pan African Film and Television Festivals of Ouagadougou (Fespaco 2019) and other festivals in Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Nigeria. In 2022, Hatibu Madudu was commissioned by M-NET (Multichoice) to produce and direct original MNET feature film ``Uncle”. Whereas for its world premier "Uncle" won three awards at the 25th Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF 2022) and received more than ten (10) nomination and selection within African region, the film traveled to several International film festivals in Kenya, Zambia, South Africa, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ghana. Again in 2022, Hatibu Madudu received a role as a Netflix approved Line producer to facilitate the production of “Katope” the short film produced in Tanzania which has been released on Netflix in March 2023, as part of Six African Folktales reimagined and won Osmane Sembene award at Zanzibar International Film Festival 2023. In 2023, Hatibu Madudu Produced and Directed a short documentary film "KUPUMA" in Malawi for Build Health International, following a story of Steve and David work as traveling biomedical engineers to hospitals throughout the world to fix broken oxygen plants, ensuring that every patient has access to lifesaving medical oxygen medicine. This film is a product of the Solutions Storytelling Project, a Skoll Foundation-supported initiative from the Video Consortium that connects filmmakers and social innovators to produce solutions-focused short documentaries that catalyse positive change. Hatibu Madudu has also been taking part as a jury in Tanzania Film Festival & Awards (TaFFA 2021 & 2022), Watoto International Film Festival Zanzibar (wiffzanzibar 2022), Kwetu International Animation Film Festival (KIAFF2022), Tanzania Music Awards (TMA 2021), Sauti Zetu Film Festival (2023) and Assistant Festival Director of 26th Zanzibar International Film Festival (2023). Currently, Hatibu Madudu has just finished a one year film development program as he was selected among five (5) grantees of film development fund by DW Akademie from Tanzania. Mentored by Alain Gomis he has finished the treatment for his second feature film "Mavani" a swahili word for second hand clothes, which is a fiction story of an emerging fashion designer who is determined to save his country from cultural slavery through fashion and he is in the process of finding a co-producer & writing a screenplay. He is also among the 30 participants for the 2nd edition of the DFMI Business Lab and founder of Black Apple Company since 2021, a production company based in Dar es Salaam Tanzania. Hatibu Madudu is also proficient and familiar with Radio and Television Production formats holding different titles as Content Director, Senior Producer & Writer. He has overseen the conception to production of various projects. Notably, Dume Challenge a reality tv contest under T-mark & USAID (2013 - 2014), Haba na Haba under BBC Media Action Tanzania (2014), Tanzania Movie Talents under Proin Promotion Ltd (2014 - 2015). Directing, Minibuzz Tv Show under MIA TV (2015 - 2016), Producing Tanzania National Parks & Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (52) Radio and Tv Programs under Haak Neel Production Ltd (2016 - 2018/ 2020 - 2021), Producing Property and Business Formalisation Program under United Republic of Tanzania President Office (2019) just to name a few. Hatibu Madudu has been able to conduct multiple media production training with reference to Sauti Mpya Project (Under We World & Tanzania Bora Initiative) which brought together 60 young journalists from Kigoma, Mbeya and Mtwara regions for capacity building sessions on media production skills. He also does consulting for Tanzania Media Foundation (TMF) under Media Viability Project by DW Akademie.
