About

Ali Scattergood is an award winning documentary filmmaker and photographer. In 2022, Her short film “Climate Diaries; Heather’s Story” on the climate crisis won best Best Documentary Short, Best Female Director, and Best Cinematography in several film festivals across the USA and Europe. Her feature length documentary “Healing Waters” about the renowned photographer Linda Troeller (Directed and Edited) is currently running in the 2023/2024 festival circuit. In 2021, Ali Produced and Directed a web series for Washington Department of Health, part of a larger campaign on Covid-19 vaccine awareness which aired on prime time television during the 2022 Winter Olympics. In Spring 2023, Ali had a solo art show “Liminal Moments” in Pioneer Square, Seattle showcasing some of her latest fine art photography work. With experience in filmmaking and photography projects around the world. Ali has worked both on the post and productions teams with a number of renowned filmmakers and shows including Ken Burns and the team at Florentine Films, projects for Netflix, Disney, A&E Networks, Hulu, Nat Geo Wild, and Warner Brothers Discovery. Ken Burns projects include: The Mayo Clinic: Faith, Hope, Science; Emmy Nominated series The Story of Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies; The Biography of Jackie Robinson; The Address; and Emmy Nominated mini-series The Vietnam War. In 2018, Ali launched her own boutique production company Oak Light Films (www.oaklightfilms.com) that specializes in non-fiction storytelling for clients in the entertainment, education and impact media sectors. Ali’s photography work, both fine art and documentary, has exhibited in shows and publications across the United States and France. She has been fortunate enough to photograph public figures including Spiritual Leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, musician Wynton Marsalis, Filmmaker Ken Burns, Author and Physician Siddhartha Mukherjee, and the Martha Graham Dance Company. In 2019 she was invited and worked as a photo journalist for the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru. Ali is an alumni of the Global Shapers, the World Economic Forum's international network of young leaders. She has spoken on panels such as Seattle Documentary Association’s Industry events, Woman in Film & Seattle International Film Festival's “The art of documentary filmmaking”, and The Future of Cinema Film Festival for youth hosted by Interlochen Arts Academy in Traverse City, MI. Currently based in Seattle, Ali enjoys working in all areas of production. She is available for video and photography productions globally.
