Future of Nonfiction Video 2025

Convening the brightest minds to collectively question what is and isn’t working in nonfiction video.

VC Gold members attend all for free. Join here!

This is not a conference! Join leading journalists, nonfiction filmmakers, video creators, and newsrooms of all kinds to collaboratively explore the future of nonfiction video. No traditional panels, no keynote speakers; only intimate, open conversations between established and emerging professionals about what’s working, what’s not, and how we can move our industry forward together. Space is limited!

FONV is powered by Knight Foundation, and hosted by Columbia Journalism School.

Come with thoughts, questions, moonshot ideas, a yearning to shift industry paradigms, and a desire to convene with fellow colleagues and creators:

Friday, 6-9:30pm: Community mingling, an industry-pushing discussion on new models for video, an inspiring screening and Q&A, and music-laden festivities to celebrate our craft — as well as Video Consortium’s 10th birthday. Please arrive by 6:30pm, when programming begins.

Saturday, 9-4:30pm: A daylong unconference-esque gathering of nuanced conversations around video journalism, documentary film, the online creator universe, and how all can (and must) work together to compellingly inform our audiences. Join this brilliant group of people and help dream up a sustainable, innovative, and impactful visual future. Coffee and registration opens at 9am, and programming begins promptly at 9:45am. Per your interests, you will be pre-assigned to specific groups. Chatham House Rule will apply to all discussions.

Beverages, meals, drinks, tunes, and meaningful connections provided throughout. Just come with an open mind (and heart)!

Friday: $22 excl. fees
Saturday: $36 excl. fees
Two-Day Pass: $45 excl. fees

All are highly encouraged to attend the full FONV. Register for both days below!

Registrants will receive more details and schedule via email. Learn more here.
