I'm a Brooklyn-based filmmaker, editor, and producer with a background in documentary journalism. I'm looking to work on small-crew projects of any length that are character-driven and observational, and want to be involved in every part of the process!

About

Samyu is a documentary filmmaker and multimedia journalist currently based in New York City. Through creative visual storytelling and empathetic reporting, she aspires to share the depth and beauty of the diverse human existence. She is particularly interested in exploring motherhood and parent-child relationships, understanding the ways we express and seek joy, and probing our feelings about time, aging, and death. Samyu would love to be involved in projects of any size, but prefers collaborating with small crews where everyone can have creative input-- she likes to be involved in every part of production, including research and pre-production, interviewing, filming, and editing. She is most drawn to stories that find magic in the lives of every-day people. Samyuktha recently graduated from the News & Documentary graduate Journalism program at New York University. She is currently working as a development associate at Hard Working Movies, and freelancing as a multimedia journalist, associate producer, and associate editor.
