Nebiat Assefa, an Ethiopian Environmental Documentary Producer and Director, is recognized for her exceptional storytelling skills that transcend borders. Currently serving as a Documentary Consultant and Managing Director at Documenting Africa Film Production Ltd in Rwanda, Nebiat has achieved international acclaim throughout her career. Nebiat holds a Master of Journalism, specialized in Documentary Filmmaking, from the University of California, at Berkeley, a Master of Theatre and Development from Addis Ababa University, and a Bachelor's in Theatre Arts from Addis Ababa University. Nebiat Assefa has made impactful collaborations with international organizations like GRID-Arendal, a Norway-based environmental communication and research organization. One notable accomplishment includes co-producing and editing a documentary on Africa's informal waste sector, showcasing expertise in research, translation, and seamless cross-border communication. In addition to her role at Documenting Africa, Nebiat's freelance work for prestigious clients such as Voice of America, International Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC), Business Insider, The World Academy of Science (TWAS) & UNESCO, and Path highlights her versatility as a videographer/photographer. She contributes to critical analyses and capture moments in her projects.
