About

Mike Swain is a forensic social worker and producer overseeing video advocacy for Brooklyn Defender Services (BDS), a public defense law firm. At BDS, we create short films that showcase our clients' histories, struggles and strengths, in order to counteract the limited and harshly punitive narratives presented to judges and district attorneys in the criminal justice system. We collaborate with cinematographers, filmmakers, and editors from the NYC area on these projects, and are always looking to expand our connections. Prior to joining BDS, Mike served as Director of Acquisitions for IndiePix Films and interned for producers and distribution companies in both New York and Los Angeles.
