As the Director of Film Education at Pittsburgh's PBS affiliate, WQED, Mary Ann oversees various programs and productions both with youth media in house and in schools and community centers, as well as community storytelling by adults in Western PA.

Mary Ann McBride-Tackett (she/her) serves as the Director of Film Education at WQED Multimedia in Pittsburgh, where she oversees and develops several filmmaking programs for both youth and adults, including the successful WQED Film Academy for elementary through high school students. Prior to WQED, Mary Ann graduated Summa Cum Laude from Point Park University as top graduating senior of the Cinema and Digital Arts program, with a concentration in screenwriting and directing and a minor in child development. Mary Ann worked freelance in the film production industry (Adventureland, Shes Out of My League) in everything from wardrobe to accounting, and as the PA state rep and global film tax incentives expert for Entertainment Partners - a global leader in entertainment accounting and finance support services. With nearly 20 years of industry experience, Mary Ann has worked on everything from studio features to short films, commercials, and television. Mary Ann finds her greatest satisfaction in educating and supporting filmmakers to help shape a more equitable future for our creative industries. Mary Ann's most important role is as mother of two young filmmakers (21 and 15) and 3 cats. She is also a 4-time surrogate and retired roller derby skater.
