About

Jordan Winters is a Filipino-American journalist and National Geographic Explorer. She has spent most of her career at NBC News, producing features for NBC News Now and breaking news out of the Miami Bureau. She has covered hurricanes, elections, the pandemic and racial justice. For her Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship, Winters is in the Philippines researching and filming the journey of Voyage of Balangay, an organization of explorers dedicated to rebuilding and sailing the balangay, a wooden sailing vessel that is the oldest boat ever found in the Philippines. Her documentary series will follow their expeditions across the archipelago and Asia as they perfect the art of sailing using this ancient technology.
