About

Jard Lerebours is a community oriented Jamaican-Haitian filmmaker, writer and curator who creates exploratory pieces in service of venerating his ancestors and putting image to theory. Jards practice straddles the worlds of cinema and video art. They approach filmmaking as a conversation between friends and family in communion owing to a West Indian upbringing by a loving village. As a curator, Jards program with cinemĂłvil nyc provided a much needed space to showcase work by Jamaican filmmakers. Most recently, he served as an NYC pod moderator for the last iteration of The Flaherty Film Seminar. Their last program Samkofa 2 centered experimental nonfiction work by Black filmmakers exploring kinship and community. Jard is an active member of the Meerkat Media Collective. Jards Babylon Red Trilogy consisting of the short films Pandrog, Coconut and Zion explore gender, masculinity, Rastafarianism, Buddhism and notions of home. Jards work has been showcased internationally by The Atlanta Film Festival, Berlin Short Film Festival, Indie Memphis Film Festival, NFFTY, Out on Film, Southern Fried Queer Pride, Soho House, Uppsala Short Film Festival, and featured on streaming platform NoBudge.
