About

Brandon Tauszik is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker living in Oakland, California. Melding visual art and social science, his bodies of work take form as socially-critical visual narratives. Tauszik’s most recent works have incorporated the largely unexplored medium of GIFs, themselves forming a delicate hybrid between the still image and film. His GIF-based portrait of Oakland’s black barbers, Tapered Throne, was the first of it’s kind to incorporate live-action GIFs in the social documentary space. He has created documentary video content for The Guardian, Airbnb, Levi’s, and many more. He works on personal projects as well as commissions and is a recipient of a 2018 Grant from the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting.
