Highlighting unassuming characters, Annika uses her 20 years of production experience to strengthen and propel storytelling in documentary and narrative projects. Her first documentary feature, The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young, delved into a secretive cult-like event and showed the dark humor and humanity of its remarkable participants. She co-directed and co-produced the award-winning film which ran on Netflix worldwide for 3 years.
