About
Anahita is a video journalist with a keen interest in gender, politics and social justice reporting. She was raised in Chandigarh, India and moved to the US in 2022 to purse her masters degree at Columbia Journalism School, where she graduated with honours. Her biggest project there was co-directing The Recital, a 40-minute documentary which follows three young musicians as they overcome their struggles to master classical violin.
She just finished a yearlong fellowship as a video journalist with BBC North America where she produced/edited news video and explainers. Before moving to the US, she was a producer with The Swaddle, a Mumbai-based publication with a strong focus on health, science and gender in India. Here, she edited and co-produced 'In Perspective,' an interview series about lesser known cultural narratives from South Asia. This series went on to bag a Webby Award nomination and won a Laadli Award, which is Indias highest honour for gender-sensitive journalism.
