Michiel is a New York & Amsterdam -based filmmaker, working primarily for public TV as an editor on PBS NewsHour, Amanpour & Co, Firing Line, NYC-Arts, Great Performances, and documentaries like After Newtown: Guns in America, Dead Reckoning and Urk. He directed Displaced, a documentary short about refugees that his friend Andrew Berends saw when he passed through Kirkuk in 2004 on his way to Iraq. This short film played at Tribeca fest in 2007. Michiel also produced indie films, like Bobby G Can’t Swim, Off Jackson Avenue and The Astrologer.
