OPPORTUNITIES

Rolling Deadlines:

  • The Black Artists Grant (BAG) is a ÂŁ500 no-strings financial support to help UK-based Black creatives. Whether you’re in need of new equipment or to fund your latest project, learn more and apply here.

  • Submit your documentary for Educational Distribution with GOOD DOCS! If your latest doc is based on education and engaging with students about rarely heard stories then this is where your next application should be. Find out more here.

  • The Pulitzer Center provides grants to cover the hard costs of reporting projects. Grants are open to all journalists: writers, photographers, radio producers, and filmmakers; staff journalists as well as freelancers. Deadline is rolling, find out more here.

  • April 1: Apply to Chicken & Egg Pictures’ Project Hatched: An impact fund for nonfiction filmmakers. Find out more here.

  • April 1: The Festival Connect Fund seeks grant proposals for their upcoming multidisciplinary programme, focusing on communities across Africa. Unlock the resources to showcase your talent! Find out more here.

  • April 2: The Short Film Fund is still open! Emerging filmmakers and screenwriters looking to get their projects funded and produced can apply here. Not only will you get that cash dollar, you’ll also get mentorship from industry experts and more!

  • April 5: The Telly Awards have extended their entry deadline! Showcase your talent and compete for recognition in categories spanning from commercials and branded content to documentaries - find out more here.

  • April 11: National Geographic’s Storytelling Grant is live and accepting proposals for its Level I and II grants. Project leaders focused in areas of conservation, education, research, storytelling and technology can apply for funding. Find out more here.

  • April 15: Independent filmmakers, the Catapult Development Grant is offering up to $25,000 USD of funding with either a documentary feature or short in development. Find out more here!

  • April 22: Calling all Asian filmmakers to submit creative documentary projects and short documentaries. Enhance your project, receive financial support and compete for awards. Read all about it.

  • April 26: Do you have a compelling climate story? The annual Bloomberg Green Docs competition is open to all eligible filmmakers who would like to compete to win a $25,000 grand prize for a short climate documentary - find out more here.

  • April 30: Launching a cross-borders, cultural collaboration? The International Collaboration Grants, offering ÂŁ1 million to foster new cultural partnerships between UK and international artists. Apply here.

  • May 1: Australian documentary filmmakers who create impactful and socially conscious work are encouraged to apply for funding and support. Find out more here.

  • May 31: Culture Moves Europe mobility grants are now open for individual artists and cultural professionals! Projects with goals that explore, create, learn and connect are eligible to apply. The grant contributes to travel and subsistence costs, and offers additional top-ups based on grantees’ individual situation. Find out more here.

  • May 31: SFFILM Documentary Film Fund supports engaging documentaries in post-production which exhibit compelling stories, intriguing characters, and an original, innovative visual approach. Find out more here.

  • July 1: Championing inclusivity and representation in storytelling The Blacklist Diversity submission lists have been announced! Writers may submit their work to any diversity list for which they qualify, read more and apply.

  • June 3: The MOFFOM grant provides up to $20,000 annually in finishing funds for scoring, composition, and music licensing efforts for feature-length documentaries. Find out more here.

FESTIVAL SUBMISSIONS

  • April 5: The Asia International Film Week is calling for international and Asian films to be screened in Thailand, Singapore, China and beyond. Feature, short and documentary filmmakers, application deadline is coming - apply here!

  • April 17: From poignant shorts to captivating features, The San Diego Filipino Film Festival is a platform for storytellers to share their unique voices and visions with the world. Submit your entry today and be part of this year’s SDFFF!

  • April 26: The FAME Shorts Film Festival celebrates the diverse narratives of Africa and its diaspora through films. If your work is rooted in African origins and explores diverse experiences and perspectives of the continent - apply asap!

  • May 1: The 33rd annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival is the longest-running nonfiction film festival in North America. Apply and compete for Best Documentary Feature, Critics Prize, Best Documentary Short and Audience Awards. Read more and apply here.

  • May 1: U.S History Documentary filmmakers, the Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns Prize is accepting submission for their annual cash prize. If your work is focused on the last twenty years or prior - this chance. Apply here.

  • May 15: The Rhode Island International Film festival is now accepting applications! Known as one of the best short film festivals in the United States. Get your work in now!

  • June 6: The 22nd edition of the London Short Film Festival application entries have begun! International and British filmmakers, this is your chance to get your completed film on the map in 2025. Find out more here.

  • July 1: DOK Leipzig 2024 is calling, submit your documentary if your work has been produced in 2023 or 2024. Get in on the 67th edition of the festival here.

  • July 6: The ReykjavĂ­k International Film Festival is now open to submissions! From fiction, documentary, hybrid, and animation films of any genre, both in the feature and short forms. Apply here!

  • July 7: The fifth year of the International Ethnographic Film festival promises to be a new experience. Now accepting participation in all programs including feature-length and short films of all genres and made in any technique. Get your work in asap!

  • June 30: The International Documentary Film Festival in Argentina is one of the biggest documentary meetings of Latin America! Focused on highlighting the works of prominent authors and providing a platform for breakout films. Interested in attending? Apply here!
