Michael T. Workman is a director, editor, cinematographer and festival programmer based in San Francisco. Workman grew up living between a trailer park and a house without wheels in Missoula, Montana. Having experienced his family struggle with addiction and surviving as a working class family, issues of exploitation and class became central to his concerns in art and organizing. Workman’s documentaries have screened at festivals around the world including Sheffield Doc/Fest, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival and many more. He has served on juries for the International Documentary Association, Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, Heartland Film Festival, The Cuban Hat Pitch, Tribeca IF/Then American West Shorts Pitch and RIDM. Workman is the Director of Programming at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival where he has worked in programming for close to ten years. He received his B.F.A. in Art and B.A. in Filmmaking from the University of Montana in 2015 and his M.F.A. in Documentary Film from Stanford University in 2021. He currently teaches documentary production at University of San Francisco.
