About

I have created and collaborated on real-life stories about secret saunas, space age visionaries, and the original communes of the 1960’s. I began as a production/ edit assistant on the legendary "Pee Wee’s Playhouse," as well as the sorta legendary "Toxic Avenger 2" and other art and independent projects. My films include "The Shvitz," which explores NYC’s traditional steambaths; "My Friend Paul," which looks at the intersection of mental illness, friendship, and crime; "Commune," the first modern reexamination of Sixties communal counterculture; and "Calling All Earthlings," an exploration of George Van Tassel and his Joshua Tree wonder dome, The Integratron. Other projects include the indie comedy "On The Run," the German made music documentary about downtown NYC jazz musicians "Sabbath in Paradise," and multiple shows as a producer on "Maternity Ward" for the NY Times Television unit/TLC. Project partners including film festivals like Slamdance and Jerusalem, venues like MOMA, Laemmle Theaters, and Cinema Village theaters; and sponsors like PBS, NEA, NYSCA, private foundations. Small screen presentations include Netflix, the Sundance Channel, BBC, ARTE, Planete-France and multiple other US and international channels, streamers, and venues. I am a Professor of film and video at Cal State San Marcos in Art, Media, and Design and am a programmer for Slamdance feature documentaries. I live in the Northeast of Los Angeles and enjoy biking, wine (not at the same time), traveling, hot yoga, and other energetic activities.
