John Pappas is a Brooklyn-based director and showrunner who bridges the worlds of investigative journalism and narrative storytelling. He is most known for his work at The New York Times on the documentary series The Weekly and for his feature documentaries, part of The New York Times Presents collection on FX and Hulu. In addition to the Times, John has worked with BuzzFeed News, Axios, ABC News, and writers like Steve Coll and Thomas L. Friedman to bring their reporting to the screen. A reporter in his own right, John has covered breaking stories in tech, climate, and criminal justice. In a former life, he hosted a weekly radio program in Chicago showcasing the city’s thriving house music underground.
