I am an Emmy winning freelance director of photography for both fiction films and documentaries, who also produces and directs documentaries. I have lived across the world allowing my work to take me to people and places that are hard to access.

About

Gelareh is a Canadian-Iranian free-lance producer / director / director of photography currently based in NYC who had lived in Iran for 12 years working in its film and documentary industry as well as living and covering stories in Afghanistan and Turkey. Her documentaries have also taken her to Antartica, India, Pakistan, Malta, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Ukraine. She has produced over 25 stories for outlets such as VICE, PBS, CH4, Al Jazeera and other media companies. She also directed and DP’d 3 documentaries for ARTE and VICE World as well as DP’d 4 feature narrative films. Two of her last Vice documentaries in Afghanistan brought her 2 News&Doc Emmys as well as 1 Peabody. She and her team in Tehran also received 1 other News&Doc Emmy for their work in the series HOSTAGES on HBO. In 2019 her Canadian production company SEETO PRODUCTIONS INC. was founded while in 2016 she became Iran’s first female DP post 1979 revolution.
