About

Culton Scovia Nakamya is an award-winning Ugandan Journalist and media entrepreneur. Culton Scovia is the 2023 Inspiring female journalist in Uganda as announced by the African center for Media Excellence. She is the founder of Her Story Uganda, a feminist multimedia organization dedicated to reshaping the representation of women in the media. Her Story rides on the power of storytelling to create a platform that amplifies the diverse voices, experiences, and perspectives of women. There is a significant lack of authentic, relatable, and inclusive content that truly reflects the lives of women and a limited portrayal of diverse stories and experiences of women. The stories are stereotypical and unrealistic. This gap prevents women from feeling heard, seen, and understood. She has won regional and national journalism awards to her name: 2023 Arts and Culture Reporting Award, National Journalism Awards. 2023 Education Reporting, National Journalism Awards. 2022 National News Reporting (Broadcast Category), National Journalism Awards./ 2022 Runner Up, Justice and Law Reporting, National Journalism Awards. 2020 Local Reporting Award, National Journalism Awards 2019 National Population Award (Television Category) 2019 Free Movement of People in Africa (IOM, African Union)
