Veronica Medina is an experienced media professional who has participated in a variety of productions for theater, film, TV, nonprofit impact campaigns, and other socially-relevant initiatives in Brazil and abroad.

About

Veronica Medina is a Brazilian filmmaker with degrees in Film, Cultural Journalism, Documentary Studies and an MA in Media Studies from The New School. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Veronica has lived and worked in the United States, France and Singapore. She has 20 years of professional experience spanning across different cultural industries, including theater, film and TV, labs and film festivals, as well as social impact campaigns for the third sector. Veronicas filmmaking experience consists of work in production, editing and distribution of several films and TV projects. She is the Associate Executive Producer of the documentary "Hermogenes: Professor & Poet of Yoga" (2015), the 7th most watched documentary film in Brazilian theaters that year. Other work credits include: Producer and Editor of the short documentary More Than a Roof, about the first official visit of a United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing to the United States in 2009; partner and senior producer at Invernofilmes, developing national and international projects, including doc series, institutional campaigns and branded content. In addition to her film work, Veronica has worked with national and international social justice and human rights organizations like Ashoka Youth Venture, the National Economic and Social Rights Initiative (NESRI), the Vermont Workers Center, Catholic Charities, among others, developing impact campaigns and mentoring staff and volunteers on the production of PSAs and institutional videos. Veronica has also been involved with educational programs and other supportive initiatives for filmmakers in collaboration with Barefoot Workshops, NeXt Doc and the Northeast Filmmakers Lab, and has worked with numerous film festivals and institutions such as Cinereach, FilmMovement, Woodstock Film Festival, Festival Paris Cinema, and the Sundance Film Festival. Veronica leads two production companies (Schroon River Productions, based in NY, and Cinemedina Produções Artísticas, in São Paulo), and serves on the Board of the Museum of Political Corruption, producing and curating its DISRUPT Film Series. DISRUPT is a free quarterly event that fosters the Museums mission of educating and empowering the public by showcasing impactful films and in-depth discussions of contemporary issues through the lens of some of the biggest political filmmakers and journalists, along with commentary by a slate of good government advocates. She is currently directing her first feature-length documentary, The Chosen Ones.
