Video Editor, The Washington Post

About

Sarah is the Visual Investigations Editor at Reuters. Prior to joining Reuters, she was one of the founders of the Washington Post’s award-winning Visual Forensics team. In the early days of COVID, she pioneered the style and tone of the Post’s visual-first storytelling, which relies on video and photo analysis, open-source investigative methods, and traditional reporting. Sarah honed her visual detective skills in covering some of the biggest news events of recent years. She contributed to a package of stories that reported on Israeli tactics in Gaza and their human toll. The series was recognized as a 2025 Pulitzer Finalist for international reporting and awarded an Online Journalism Award in Excellence in Visual Digital Storytelling. She co-edited the Emmy-nominated Post-Frontline collaboration “Failure at the Fence,” which documented how Hamas was able to carry out its October 2023 attack on Israel. She also was part of the Post team that synced thousands of videos and used 3D reconstruction to show – days after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol – how close rioters came to lawmakers. The Post’s Jan. 6 coverage won a Pulitzer Prize for public service. Sarah got her start as a video producer and documentary filmmaker, then cut her teeth on the Post’s Fact Checker desk. When not piecing together riveting stories from thousands of visual clues, Sarah is either re-reading “Lord of the Rings” or dancing (as best as she can) with her volunteer ballet folklórico company.
