Wilton Jackson is an award-winning sports media journalist and a professor in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Jackson State. For nearly a decade, he has covered all sports but particularly women’s college basketball, the WNBA and HBCU sports. He is a former writer for Sports Illustrated. Locally, he has covered hard news and sports in Mississippi at The Clarion Ledger. Wilton presently writes for the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and his work has also appeared in The Sporting News, The Next Hoops, ESPN’s Andscape, WSBTV.com, HBCU GameDay and more.
Jackson received his Bachelor's degree in multimedia journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi in May 2015, his first Master's degree in mass communication/journalism from LSU in May 2019 and his second Master's degree in sport management from Jackson State in April 2023.
