About

Sarah Jenks is a documentary film producer who has collaborated on award-winning short, feature and documentary series for both news outlets, streamers and major media companies like The Guardian, Marvel, Disney, HBO, Electronic Arts and Oculus. She was the Associate and Post Producer on “Colette”, which won the Academy Award for the Best Documentary Short in 2021 and ran that awards campaign. Most recently she was the Senior Producer on the feature documentary “Director by Night” produced by Marvel and streaming on Disney +. Prior to that she was the Archival Producer on a soon-to-be-released HBO documentary series “Savior Complex” and the Co-Producer & Post-Producer on a series of immersive WWII documentaries made for Electronic Arts and Oculus. Projects she’s worked on have screened and won major festivals like Big Sky Film Festival, St. Louis Film Festival and Palm Springs Short Fest. She graduated from the documentary specialization at Columbia Journalism School in 2019 with departmental honors and has been regularly invited back as a guest speaker and video instructor. While in that program, she co-directed, produced, filmed and edited a short doc “The Vet Van”, advised by Betsy West, which screened at several festivals including DOC NYC, Double Exposure and St. Louis Film Festival. Before pursuing documentary film she worked for nonprofits in Portland, Seattle and Haiti. Her curiosity has taken her down diverse career paths: from pitching salmon on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska, to living alone in Haiti, to wielding sanders to help make a 50 foot wood sculpture in Seattle. She grew up in Portland, Oregon and loves backpacking, climbing mountains and being outside. She is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.
