About

Stuart Kazanow serves as the Director of Acquisitions for Maryland Public Television (MPT), a public television network that broadcasts across a five-state region, including all of Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. With a passion for documentary storytelling and the voices of independent filmmakers, Stuart acquires content across all genres for both local broadcast initiatives and national public television distribution. In this role, he works closely both with independent producers to ensure their content aligns with public television’s editorial, technical and funding standards and with the major public television distribution services, including PBS, American Public Television (APT) and the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA), to coordinate submission and delivery of content. Stuart previously served as MPT’s National Client Services Manager, providing strategic and creative leadership in the raising of corporate underwriting for the production and distribution of national public television series and films. Beyond MPT, Stuart has a BS in Mass Communication from Towson University and has been an active participant in the Baltimore theatrical community, both on-stage and behind the scenes, for over 15 years. Stuart and his wife, Donna, are the parents of two grown sons and are adapting with their cats to their recently adopted roles as empty nesters in Reisterstown, Maryland.
