About

I love working in documentary because it's an art form that takes an active role in changing our world and leaves me feeling changed. For the last three years, I've been filming and developing a documentary called Trans Joy Camp, a community-based project focused on empowering a trans community in the heart of the Midwest to document, tell, and imagine their voice through the lens of joy as resistance. I directed a short film about my family farm called Peaceful Acres and an archival short about the painting depicting John Brown in the Kansas State Capitol called Kansas, Bleeding. Alongside joyful teams of filmmakers, I love blending thoughtful archival footage, experimental storytelling devices, and honest non-hierarchical histories.
