Sam is a photographer and director of photography raised in the southwestern United States and based in Seattle. He primarily works in branded and nonfiction formats.

In his personal work, Sam is interested in stories that explore our relationship to land, particularly in the context of politics, sustainability, and stewardship. He is interested in projects that approach complex subject matter with a balanced perspective. Sam's camerawork has premiered at Tribeca and CPH:DOX (Minted, 2023), and MountainFilm (Desert Mourning, 2021). The docuseries Science Sandbox was nominated for a Webby award in 2024. Bodies of Water a photoessay linking Indian nationalism to the climate crisis was published as a cover story for Vice News in 2019. Sam has collaborated with TIME, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Netflix. Commercial clients include Meta, Google, AmEx, Levis, Walmart, McDonalds, and LOreal.
