About

Rujuta Doshi is a documentary filmmaker who creates intimate and impactful stories that spotlight the experiences of marginalized and underrepresented communities through a gender-sensitive lens. Trained as an architect, she was introduced to films and their sociopolitical narratives during design school. While practicing architecture male-dominated fields he observed subtle yet pervasive patriarchal structures, inspiring her to use filmmaking as a medium to express her worldview. Since then, Rujuta has completed several meaningful projects. With expertise in crafting engaging narratives, she balances client objectives with creative expression to deliver powerful visual stories. Her design background lends her a heightened spatial awareness, enabling her to use composition and visual elements to enhance storytelling. In India, where CSR initiatives are mandatory, many corporates collaborate with grassroots NGOs on impactful projects. Rujuta aims to document and amplify these efforts, capturing their significance in meaningful and powerful ways.

Every year, hundreds of women are admitted in Burns Ward of Victoria Hospital in Bangalore, India reportedly as victims of stove burst or kitchen accident. A lot of them succumb to these injuries while the others survive to live a life with never ending trauma. This documentary is a compilation of conversations with some of the survivors, revealing the homicidal nature of the incident and their struggle to navigate through lives in its aftermath.
