About

ODU ADAMU is a Brooklyn-based Creator who uses filmmaking to express his vision. In 2020, he formed ROCK MY SOUL Media, LLC and began the journey on his Creative Path. In fall 2021, Odu was one of twelve Brooklyn-based filmmakers invited to be a part of the BRIC 2021 Documentary Intensive Cohort. This experience supported him in developing OURWORLD, the arm of ROCK MY SOUL dedicated to sharing authentic stories of Black LGBTQ/SGL people and exploring issues that impact our communities. Odu is the awardee of Inside Out’s 2022 Pitch Please grant (cosponsored by Netflix) and an aGLIFF 2022 Queer Black Voices Fund grantee. Odu is also the founder and curator of GOT TO BE REEL, a project that brings Black queer film into community spaces. GOT TO BE REEL is a part of the New York Foundation for the Arts fiscal sponsorship program.

WHO AM I BECOMING- Extended Trailer

WHO I AM BECOMING is a visual journal chronicling Payton Royce's early stages of gender transition through to gender affirming surgery. The film features footage shot at that time as well as his current reflections on his journey. WHO AM I BECOMING also includes Payton’s first conversation with his family about his early years. Directed and produced by Payton Royce and Odu Adamu.

BODY LANGUAGE

BODY LANGUAGE explores body image and experience for Black gay, queer, and same-gender loving men. The men in the film candidly share their personal journeys and perspectives on their bodies in relation to Black g/q/SGL life. Dialogues about family, friends, and the media shed light on body image and body shaming for men. BODY LANGUAGE is an authentic conversation about rejection, pain, healing, acceptance, and self-love. This preview gives a glimpse into the experiences of some Brothers when they came into the gay community.
