About

Nico Sandi Espinoza is a filmmaker, editor and storyteller with an MFA in documentary film from Stanford University. Originally from Cochabamaba, Bolivia, Nico is passionate about telling stories that give back to his subjects’ communities. The latest project he edited, Águilas (2021), documents the Águilas del Desierto volunteers as they set out along the southern desert border of Arizona to recover missing loved ones. Águilas was the winner of the Documentary Shorts Jury award at SXSW in 2021, and was shortlisted for the documentary short category at the Oscar awards.
