I connect students to journalism that matters. As a professor and founder of Amplify Utah, I work with newsrooms, radio stations and other media partners to give emerging journalists publishing and hands-on opportunities across the state.
About
A veteran newspaper reporter, magazine editor and digital executive producer, television news managing editor and non-profit leader, Marcie founded Amplify Utah in 2020 to help bolster representative storytelling in local media and amplify voices from across the greater Salt Lake community and state.
Marcie joined the University of Utah's communication faculty in 2023 after five years teaching journalism and digital media at Salt Lake Community College. Raised in Salt Lake City, Marcie has worked for KUTV 2News and Salt Lake magazine and returned to her hometown bringing lessons learned from gigs with Disney-owned ABC7 News in San Francisco, Conde Nast in New York and The Charlotte Observer in North Carolina. She is a graduate of Utah State University and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
